The Dominie SchoolWe use the National Curriculum for our teaching, which has been carefully adapted to meet the requirements of our pupils.

Lessons are taught in a class, group or individually. Working alongside the teachers are classroom assistants and specialists in the fields of speech and language and physiotherapy. Many of our teachers have additional qualifications in specific learning difficulties (dyslexia). Music and drama are taught by specialist teachers.

Each pupil has an Individual Education Plan (IEP), which is reviewed on a regular basis, in order to continually monitor the pupil's  achievements.

The abiding objective of this school is to ready all its children for a seamless return to mainstream education. (CReSTeD report 2013)

[Pupils] make progress in all subjects, including English and mathematics, at a rate greater than normally expected. (Ofsted report 2015)

One pupil commented with pride, and some surprise in his voice, ‘I now read even when I don’t have to!’ (Ofsted report 2015)

Pupils’ excellent behaviour enables all to learn to the best of their abilities. (Ofsted report 2015)

Parents commented that the caring and nurturing environment enabled the children to grow alongside their academic progress and progress was ‘made in leaps and bounds’. (CReSTeD report 2013)
